Waiting on Wednesday (7): Love, Lies and Spies

Waiting on wed

Hello lovelies!

As per Wednesday, read on to see what I can’t wait to get my hands on!

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, where you can highlight upcoming releases that you are eagerly anticipating!

What I’m waiting on:

Love, Lies and Spies by Cindy Anstey

25320766

Synopsis (via GoodReads): Juliana Telford is not your average nineteenth-century young lady. She’s much more interested in researching ladybugs than marriage, fashionable dresses, or dances. So when her father sends her to London for a season, she’s determined not to form any attachments. Instead, she plans to secretly publish their research.
Spencer Northam is not the average young gentleman of leisure he appears. He is actually a spy for the War Office, and is more focused on acing his first mission than meeting eligible ladies. Fortunately, Juliana feels the same, and they agree to pretend to fall for each other. Spencer can finally focus, until he is tasked with observing Juliana’s traveling companions . . . and Juliana herself.

  • I just read The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman last month and this book has the same type of feel to it–minus the paranormal. I think that I’ll really enjoy the storyline and I know I already love the time period 🙂
  • The blurb also seems to suggest that Juliana will be a quirky MC and I really love those types of characters/MCs. I’m hoping to really connect with her as a character.
  • This novel (and cover) has a Jane Austen feel to it and I’m very much a sucker for anything similar to Jane Austen’s world so I’m sure I’ll be picking this up soon!
  • Also, I think it will be fun to see how these two characters, Juliana and Spencer, come up against each other–especially after they both agreed to not get attached to anyone. 😉

What are you waiting on this week? Do you have Love, Lies and Spies added to your TBR? Let me know in the comments below! I’d love to hear from you!

Happy Reading!

I don't it on my TBR cause my TBR is crazy right now and I saw this book before the big block of approvals I got in December (seriously, there were like 15 books approved all at once and then 10 more the next week). I can't wait to read some of the review for this. Read Less
